BORACAY not BORA! (part 2)

You may like to read the first part of the blog BORACAY not BORA! tnx :)

As we woke up on the second day we're glad to see the sun shines so bright. We started the day with our free breakfast in the hotel. After having our meal, we texted Kuya ron for our activities for the day.

breakfast @ island nook

As we started with our adventures we tried the parasailing first. Parasailing, also known as parascending, or "parakiting" is a recreational kiting activity where a person is towed behind a vehicle (usually a boat) while attached to a specially designed canopy wing that reminds one of a parachute, known as a parasail wing. (wikipedia)

that nervous look...

safety first

Since it was not a peak season we paid 1000 php per head for this activity. In Samal, Davao City it cost 2000+ php per pax so better grab this chance here in Boracay. There were 9 of us in our group and we were the first one to go up in the air. It is one of the scariest time of my life but I'm pretty sure that I am on the a good hands as they put on our harness.

we are seriously nervous

I am the heaviest among the three of us so the guide put me in the middle to make it balance. They just asked us to sat on the motorboat and off we go. They slowly loosen up the rope until we go up in the sky. It's really too high that you can even see the whole island since the area is just 10.32 km2 (3.985 sq mi). We stayed there for about 15 minutes and while we were there it seems that it lasted for an hour. We descended smoothly and lucky for us everything was fine.

going up

We left our camera to one of the guides and he took 100+ pictures while we were going up and going down. Just be careful not to have excessive movement in order for you not to fall down. Don't stare below the ocean because you might freak out since it is so high, it might frighten you a lot.

up....

up...

and away....

The whole thing was frightening at start but as we ascended in the sky, we easily adjusted and we felt good about it. Good thing me and my sisters doesn't have any acrophobia (fear of height).

going down...

it's their time...

we survived parasailing...

The second activity was the helmet diving,it is one of the famous activity in Boracay.Helmet diving will allow a person to walk on the ocean floor. The helmet is attached with oxygen so that one can breathe normally in the ocean. The helmet weighs 20 kg but it weighs less when submerged to water, approximately 2 kg only.

Before we plunge in the water, the group instructed with basic hand gestures like going up and going down sign. We were also taught how to equalize, by simply pinching your nose so that the air will come out in the ears. It may take you just few times to equalize because the moment we touched the sand we can breathe normally. The dive instructors gave us a piece of bread so that the fishes will surround us and one of the guides will take a picture or a video of us while fishes swam around our bread.

dragon and Chinese word for love

After surviving the water activities we strolled down along the shore near D'Mall and saw a lot of locals doing some henna tattoo. We paid 100 php for each design, it took almost 15-20 minutes depending on the design.

It's time for lunch, we headed to station 2 to look for a restaurant named "smoke". It took us along time to find this restaurant since there are plenty of restaurant in station 2.

smoke

Smoke Resto is famous for affordable Filipino food. Contarary to the price for each menu, the food taste like it's expensive. No wonder Pinoy and even foreigner dig in to try their food.

Boracay won't be complete without witnessing the sunset along white beach. Tourist flock in to catch Boracay's sunset. My sisters and I had some snack as we waited for the sunset. We saw some "isaw" (chicken intestine) and went to Jonah's for some refreshment.

Since we are already in station 1, we took time to go and visit the grotto. I simply thank Mama Mary for the wonderful time that we had and for giving us a good weather.

Grotto

As we walk along the streets of Boracay, we happened to see the Holy Rosary Parish. We went inside and pray. We owe it to God Almighty all the great time that we had while we were enjoying the small island. I also asked for a safe and sound trip going home.

Boracay Church

They said that if it is your first time to visit a church, one should make a wish.

Altar

We went straight to D'talipapa to buy souvenirs for our love one back home. It is advisable to buy pasalubong in D'talipapa since it is more cheaper than buying in D' Mall. Right after shopping, we decided to buy seafoods at D'talipapa market and had it cooked in one of the restaurant beside it. You can save a lot of money while enjoying plenty of seafoods. It's good if you are in a big group.

pigging out...

We ended the day by experiencing the night life of the island. Night life in Boracay is really alive and kicking.

blue margarita

We saw a lot of fire dancers just to catch tourist attention. After they gave a dance number, there was a chance for the audience to take a picture along with the dancers but it also requires some donations.

Our visit to this beautiful place was certainly brings joy to me and my sister. It's a good way of tightening the bond of our relationship and appreciate how beautiful Philippines is.

BORACAY not BORA!

Travel destination for every Juan! That's BORACAY. It's every bodies dream to go here in this beautiful island. For a pre-graduation treat to our youngest sister we decided to go here. Thanks to piso fare from cebu pacific airlines, travel fare is much more affordable. Boracay is a small island in the Philippines located approximately 315 km (196 mi) south of Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. (wikipedia)

touchdown to Boracay

We got the first flight of the day since we our bound directly to Caticlan airpot we rode cebupacific's ATR72-500 plane which can accommodate 78 passengers. For this reason passengers are just allowed to hand carry 5 kilos instead of 7 kilos from other domestic destinations. Passengers need to weigh first upon check in since the plane is small.

The night before going to Boracay, me and my sisters flew from Davao to Cebu and stayed overnight at Hotel Cesario  located at Lapu-Lapu Cebu City. We decided to check in here since it is just 5 minutes away from the airport plus they offer free aiport transfer and buffet breakfast. We booked our hotel in agoda for 2000 php per night.

egzoited much...

We arrived at Boracay airport passed seven in the morning and Mr. sun greeted us with a big smile. We drove a tricycle from the airport to the jetty port. It cost 100 php for each tricycle. We immediately paid 100 php for terminal fee, 75 php for environmental fee and 25 for the boat fare. After less than 20 minutes we arrived in the island of Boracay. We rode another tricycle from the port to D'mall, located at station two it is where restaurants and shops are located.

can't wait to see the powdery sand of Boracay

We started our adventure by filling up our tummy in Andoks, a very popular fast food chain since it is affordable. Right after eating, we change our outfits in one of the toilet in D'mall (5php toilet charge). After changing our clothes we went directly to island nook (located in station two), this is where we stayed two nights. Island nook is affordable and they offer free breakfast too. Since check in time is 2 o' clock in the afternoon we arrived so early, we cannot get the room until 2:00 pm. Good thing the hotel can accommodate guest for early check in, so even though there is no vacant room they still manage to save some place near the front desk for our bags.

For the entire activities that we had in Boracay, we got kuya Ron a very popular guy in boracay who offers affordable rates for the activities in Boracay. He also owned Island Nook Hotel.First activity was island hopping for 1000 php for every boat good for 10 pax.

island hopping starts now

Snorkeling gears are included in the tour and one boatmen for every boat. We also bought a bread that cost 20 php per pack for the fish feeding.

During the island hopping you will be surprise to see a lot of vendors along the  sea. They were selling buko juice and even ice cream!

The tour lasted for 4 hours but before we headed back to bulabog (other side of white beach), the boatmen asked us were we wanted to eat. So we headed in one of the island to have our lunch in M&E ihaw-ihaw restaurant. The foods are delicious for a reasonable price.

ATV

The second activity we did that day was All-terrain vehicle (ATV), it cost 350 each person. If someone would find it difficult to drive the atv they also have buggy car, a two seater vehicle perfect for couples. Buggy car cost more than ATV, it cost 500 for each car.

extreme adventure

jump shot at EVERLAND Aviary Farm

The guest can choose two options, it's either they will have a one or two hour ride in their ATV. Of course riding it for two hours will be more expensive. We decided to get one hour ride since we thought it's just enough for our experience.

a view from the top

There were 3 stops as we drove along the island these includes: Mt. Luho (entrance fee 50 php), overview deck (free of charge) and EVERLAND Aviary Farm ( entrance fee 70 php).

After the one hour atv ride, we proceeded  to the trick art museum since we did atv then it's for free.

Uh Oh!

My sisters and I had fun exploring the two storey building. Lucky for us since there are no other people aside from us inside the museum so we definitely owned the place.

oppps sorry...

dreamland

After doing all the activities it's time for us to go back to white beach for the sunset. Dreamland is a place  for kids and kids at heart. I read a blog before that it is owned by a Korean. Free shuttle goes along when you avail the atv. We asked the driver to drop us at station two to witness Boracay sunset and for us to go to the grotto which is one of the famous attraction in the island.

sunset in Boracay

During our visit to Boracay I noticed that there are only few sand castle along the shore and one local said that it is prohibited since they are not paying a pax for doing this. Lucky for us we saw some sand art but donations are required when tourist wants to take a picture with it.

We certainly had a lot of fun during our first day in Boracay. We were so tired that we decided not to go out that night since we need to gather some energy for tomorrow's activity.
